Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of high school after her parents separated to go into Los Angeles to live with her mother. Her first role came to her, as Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001 despite struggling financially. Her performance in the role of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV movie Murder in Greenwich in 2002 earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award. In 2004 Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost where she was a main cast member for the first two seasons winning an Screen Actors Guild Award shared by the entire cast. Grace was a co-star together with Tom Welling on The Fog during 2005, decided to make the move to film. The role she played was Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken the year 2008) on Suburban Girl and the Jane Austen Book Club. She reprised the role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the main character Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised her role as Shannon in Lost, including the finale. In 2013, she was a guest in the sixth series of Californication. She is Faith, a groupie who acts as a muse to celebrities and attracts the eye from Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Gyllenhaal is a part of the family and is the elder cousin of Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first appearances were in films of her father as an adolescent. With her brother, she was also in Donnie Darko (2000). She also starred as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. She also appeared in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performance as a lead character actress in Secretary (2002), which is an erotic romantic drama and Sherrybaby (2006). She was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award. In 2006, she starred in a number of films that were commercially successful, including World Trade Center. However the role she played as Rachel Dawes that brought her greater attention for her performance in The Dark Knight (2008). For her performance as the single mother, in Crazy Heart (2009) she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The following year, she starred in dramatics and comedies: Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). Some of her other roles are as an agent of the Secret Service in White House Down 2013. She also appeared as a vocalist in Frank 2014 and also as a singer in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, in which she plays the main role. Gyllenhaal's first film as a writer and director was in 2021 with The Lost Daughter, a psychological thriller in which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. She also received the Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
